When you first hear the term 'blog' you can really misinterpret the possible connotations attached to it. As it is a combination of the words 'bog' and 'log' I imagined a horribly wet, mud filled swamp; a place on the Internet where good ideas went to die. I know it sounds a little morbid, but as I write this the rain and wind are ever persistent and influential.
Fortunately, I was wrong. I had heard about celebrity blogs (such as Lance Armstrong's) before, but I found that 'The Secret Life of Bees' blog @ http://weblogs.hcrhs.k12.nj.us/bees/ had real merit for classroom use. Although the text itself doesn't suit, the idea of posting tasks online and having the students compile their answers at the same place is awesome!
